April 27, 2018 to May 5, 2018
Join Las Vegas Natural History Museum paleontologist, Josh Bonde, Ph.D., for a fossil tour at Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument. This will be a pedestrian tour, so pack plenty of water and a snack. We will be hiking a few miles round trip (depending on group interest). Attendees will overview the interesting geology of the area, and visit some historical dig sites from the 1960s where radiocarbon dating came of age. There is a possibility of seeing some fossils on the ground. It is important to note that collecting fossils on state or federal land is illegal without a permit from the relevant land management agency. Come for a hike, learn about our past, and maybe find a treasure for our future.
Meeting place will be at Shadow Ridge High School Parking Lot at 9:00am. (5050 Brent Lane)
