The line-up for 2019 "Science is Everywhere Day" is growing all the time!


Registration Opens on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 9:00 AM PST

Peeking into Nevada’s Past (Las Vegas)

Visitors to the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas are wowed by its towering mammoth skeleton and enormous ichthyosaur. But did you know that only a fraction of the museum’s collection is on exhibit? Get rare access to the museum’s restricted collections area for this special behind-the-scenes tour. Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas at the Springs Preserve. 309 S. Valley View Blvd. Tours will depart from the front desk at 10:00am, 11:00am, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Register at https://www.nsmlv.org/science.

♦'Ologist Day (Las Vegas)

Budding science lovers will get an opportunity to meet real scientists from many different fields. Kids can ask questions and get their hands on real fossils, artifacts, and live animals. Las Vegas Natural History Museum - 900 N. Las Vegas Blvd. Ongoing programs from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. No registration needed for this event.

♦THE SCIENCE OF SAVING LIVES (LAS VEGAS)   - Sold Out

Peek inside the only Level 1 Trauma Center in Nevada. Meet the surgeons, doctors, and nurses trained to handle any life-threatening condition, even if that means holding someone’s heart in their hands. University Medical Center: Trauma Building – 800 Hope Pl. Tours every twenty minutes between 10:00am and 12:00pm. Limit 10 students per tour. Ages 12 and up. Registration required

♦My Robotic Friends (Las Vegas)  - event Cancelled

In this unplugged workshop, you’ll learn a bit about how robots work and the FUNdamentals of coding. Then, you’ll get some practice writing programs for your robotic friends to execute. This activity is suitable for kids ages 7 and up. Enterprise Library – 25 E. Shelbourne Ave. A one-hour program at 2:00pm - 3:00pm, geared towards ages 7-17.

♦Science Day at the Springs Preserve (Las Vegas)

Make UV bracelets at the Springs Preserve Nature Exchange from 10:00am - 4:00pm. The Nature Exchange is located in the Springs Preserve Gift Shop. Springs Preserve -  333 S. Valley View Blvd. First come, first serve. Festival Programming is free but admission is required for indoor spaces.

♦Atomic Testing Museum Tour (Las Vegas)

Two docent-led tours by Nevada National Security Site veterans to give guests an inside look at the science and history of nuclear weapons testing. National Atomic Testing Museum - 755 E. ♦Coder School  (Las Vegas)  

Our Coder Coaches will have hourly coding challenges for beginners and advance coders to test their coding skills. Your kids will learn how to build apps, make websites, design games, program robots, and much more. The tours will last for around 45 minutes and guests will get a chance to go behind the scenes and see the daily life of the biologists who rely on biology, chemistry, and technology to keep our 1500+ fish happy and healthy. What does it take to operate a 1.3 million gallon aquarium filled with sea life in the middle of the Mojave Desert? Go on a behind-the-scenes tour to discover the science that makes it possible. Learn what it takes to create detailed and elaborate displays every season at the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, including over 100 expert horticulturalists, water features, architectural touches, and theatrically arranged plants. What does an amusement park look like before it opens? Get VIP access to the Adventuredome and check out the cool technology behind rides like the Inverter and El Loco. Adventuredome – 2880 S. On Sunday, April 28 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm join Marvel's Avenger's S.T.A.T.I.O.N. for National Super Hero Day. This event is FREE and open to the public during event hours. The event will feature cosplayers, a super hero mask making station, balloon and glitter tattoo artist, and more. Science activations will include classified Avengers missions in the areas of life science, earth science and physical science where students have the chance to study and analyze data and samples to identify potential threats and extraterrestrial life forms. ♦Bird Walk at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve (henderson)

(350 East Galleria Dr., Henderson, NV 89011) from 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. on April 28. Officially created from a defunct water treatment facility in 1967, the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve appears to be a mirage at first glance, but its nine ponds have created an oasis in the desert and a great place to see a lot of different birds. Come with us for a walk and see how industrial land can be repurposed and adapted to attract wildlife and create a unique natural environment. A wide variety of resident and migratory waterfowl can be seen at this location year-round. You’ll enjoy excellent access to the birds thanks to the maintained grounds and pre-built structures. ♦Black Canyon/Hoover Dam Postcard Tour (Boulder City) - Sold Out

Come enjoy the spectacular Hoover Dam views from the Colorado River. This is absolutely the best photo opportunity of the Hoover Dam, Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, and the Colorado River! From the Alan Bible Visitor Center, you are transported down the historic Lower Portal Road to the Black Canyon Water Trail of the Colorado River. There you will board your raft for a 30-minute float. Allow 1.5 hours for this tour from the NPS parking area and back.
